4. Your first sentence should refer to the question/task. It is often a good idea to use keywords from the question. e.g. ... reasons ...

1. Read all the questions: What do the tasks ask you to do? --> Describe/Sum Up/Outline/Explain/Analys/Discuss etc.

2. Read the text and highlight the passage(s) that the question refers to.

3. Write a structured and coherent (zusammenhängend) text for each question. Use linking words!!!

5. Use your own words as far as is appropriate (angemessen). Don't just copy from the text but try to paraphrase!

6. Give evidence from the text by giving the line number(s): (l.14) or (ll.9-13). Note: Fullstop after round brackets!!! You may want to use direct quotes (wörtliche Zitate), in which case you also need to indicate the line number(s). Use direct quotes sparingly and don't forget to explain them!

7. Stick to the question and do not repeat yourself. Do not give extra information that you have not found in the text.

8. Layout: Begin a new paragraph if a question has several parts.
