The great courageous act that we must all do, is to have the courage to step out of our history and past so that we can live our dreams.

Its not just about being able to write a check. Its being able to touch somebodys life.

Do the one thing you think you cannot do. Fail at it. Try again. Do better the second time. The only people who never tumble are those who never mount the high wire. This is your moment. Own it.

You become what you believe. And to believe that you are created by the power that's greater than yourself means anything is possible.

Energy is the essence of life. Every day you decide how youre going to use it by knowing what you want and what it takes to reach that goal and by maintaining focus.

So go ahead. Fall down. The world looks different from the ground.

She is the mother I never had, she is the sister everybody would want. She is the friend that everybody deserves. I don't know a better person.

I don't think of myself as a poor deprived ghetto girl who made good. I think of myself as somebody who from an early age knew I was responsible for myself, and I had to make good.

I don't believe in failure. It is not failure if you enjoyed the process.

The big secret in life is there is no secret. Whatever your goal. You can get there if you're willing to work.

Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher.

Your calling isn't something that somebody can tell you about. It's what you feel. It's a part of your life force. It is the thing that gives you juice. The thing that you are supposed to do. And nobody can tell you what that is. You know it inside yourself.

You are not your circumstances. You are your possibilities. If you know that you can do anything.

If you re not speaking your own truth, you will never be able to be all you are meant to be. You cannot be pretending to be somebody else.

No matter who we are or what we look like or what we may believe, it is both possible and, more importantly, it becomes powerful to come together in common purpose and common effort.

You are who you are at this moment because of everything that's ever happened to you, everything that you carried forward for yourself.

Don't let people talk you into what they think is you.

You get in life what you have the courage to ask for.

For everyone of us that succeeds, it's because there's somebody there to show you the way out.

The challenge of life, I have found, is to build a resume that doesn't simply tell a story about what you want to be, but it's a story about who you want to be.

You're either humble or you're not. If you were a jerk before the fame, you just become a jerk with a bigger spotlight. Whoever you are really comes through.

I know that inner wisdom is more precious than wealth. The more you spend it, the more you gain.

So long as you are still worried about what others think of you, you are owned by them. Only when you require no approval from outside yourself can you own yourself.

Living in the moment means letting go of the past and not waiting for the future. It means living your life consciously, aware that each moment you breathe is a gift.

The thing you fear most has no power. Your fear of it is what has the power. Facing the truth really will set you free.

I define joy as a sustained sense of well-being and internal peace - a connection to what matters.

I finally realized that being grateful to my body was key to giving more love to myself.

Books were my pass to personal freedom. I learned to read at age three, and soon discovered there was a whole world to conquer that went beyond our farm in Mississippi.

The whole point of being alive is to evolve into the complete person you were intended to be.
